An ordinary college student named Kaneki encounters Rize, a girl who is an avid reader like him, at the café he frequents. Little does he realize that his fate will change overnight.

The Talk

I started watching Tokyo Ghoul last August, when it only had 7 episodes. I must say, it really caught my attention because it was somewhat like Shingeki no Kyojin. On the first episode, Kaneki Ken encounters Kamishiro Rize. Rize was a nice person at first, and she was reading Kaneki's favorite book when they met at Anteiku. Being the pretty girl she was, she immediately gained Kaneki's trust. (That was dumb of you, Kaneki.) So yeah insert the blab of spoilers here.

Because I watched it when it only had 7 episodes, I waited for the next update. It updates every week, by the way. When episode 8 came, I was so psyched up for it because the 7th episode was such a total cliffhanger. Anyway, since I do not want to put any spoilers, (it will ruin the fuuuuun) I will just end this talk right here.

The Main Characters

  1. Kaneki Ken: The protagonist of the story. He is somewhat a dork, because he's afraid of so many things (take losing his humanity for example) and idk, he's just plain dorky for me. This impression didn't last long because I started reading the manga when I was so stoked for what will happen next. At the start of the 65th-ish chapters, he becomes waaaaaay cool. He's fighting to keep his humanity while trying to survive the way of living that the ghouls lead.
  2. Kirishima Touka: She's somewhat like Mikasa of SnK. She's a total badass, and the way she said "Let me give you a hand" in the first episode was so amazing. I instantly became her fan. She's practically an orphan, but later on (episode 9) her 14-ish year-old brother enters the story, (he is so so so so so so so freaking smoking hot by the way, and he looks like he is a mature supermodel) and in the manga, their father is mentioned. She might seem super tough on the outside, but she's really damaged inside.
  3. Amon Koutarou: A ghoul investigator. Basically, ghoul investigators kill ghouls. They believe that if they do not kill ghouls, the ghouls will kill them. They work for the CCG, a center for ghoul investigators throughout all of the wards (cities?) in Tokyo. He loves (not in that way) his leader, Kureo Mado because of how Mado-san helped him during his tough times as a newbie ghoul investigator. He's loyal, and he sure knows how to respect people.
  4. Mado Kureo: Another ghoul investigator. He is a very, very wise one. His intuitions are almost always correct, and he sure knows how to kill ghouls with style. I must admit, I got really, really pissed off at him because he *spoiler removed.* But after he *spoiler removed* I must say, he earned my respect.
So basically, those are the characters that will appear most of the time in the story. I know that this anime isn't finished yet, but who cares. I'm rating it.

The Rating

Yes, I'm giving it five fabulous Vaporeons.

Why?
  1. Because the story is so deep, and it really gave me a ton of feels. (considering that it isn't even finished yet)
  2. Because I love Kirishima Touka. (I'm so biased, haha)
  3. Because Kirishima Ayato is so freaking gorgeous.
  4. Because try reading the manga/watching the anime and you will know why I gave it a five. ;)
If you liked the following animes:
  • Another: because the main characters both have eyepatches, and both animes give off the mystery vibe.
  • Shingeki no Kyojin: both of the main characters are struggling to maintain their humanity, and both of the animes deal with supernatural forces eating humans.
  • Death Note: both animes give off the mystery and horror vibe.
then you might also love like Tokyo Ghoul, and if you enjoyed Tokyo Ghoul, you might also enjoy the ones mentioned above. Happy watching! :)

P.S. I know that this post might be a load of bs, but I just really want to let out all of my feels for this anime
